Amelia is a Pinzgauer heifer born June 12th 2020. She was found on the field in the brush many hours after her twin brother bull was born. She had a bad infection in her eyes and her legs were bent in odd form which made it hard for her to stand. She improves daily but still has trouble with her back leg which makes it difficult to walk and she has very minimal eyesight.
Bonnie was the one who found Amelia and had the vet out to help her but Bonnie could not keep her and Amelia had too many special needs to go out with the other cows. Bonnie contacted Sammamish Animal Sanctuary and was thrilled when we agreed to adopt Amelia while she was not even five weeks old. She will be bottle fed until she is three months old as well as taken for daily walks and rehabbing her leg so she can walk. Amelia is the sweetest thing. She gives cow kisses and follows us around. Although it is hard for Amelia to walk and get up from her nap, she doesn't give up!. We created a special pasture and shed for Amelia so she could be on flat ground, next to the other cows but not in with them. Amelia is a blessing to our farm. |
