Sammamish Animal Sanctuary will be moving in Spring 2022!
Sammamish Animal Sanctuary will soon have a place of their own! As many of you know, SAS has always been in our front yard, which we have enjoyed, but is not sustainable. So, last November, Don and I personally purchased a property with a large barn just a few miles from our current location, where we plan to move the sanctuary this spring. This will establish SAS’s independence so it can go beyond us. We are super excited about this move and want to share some of the details with you, our friends and supporters!
Here’s what will be better…
Don and I purchased the property and are working on refurbishing the barn, but we can’t do it all ourselves. Here’s how you can help…
For starters, we can always use volunteers. You can get on our website and sign up! Secondly, we are still in great need of outdoor sheds for our pastured rescues as well as fencing. We have set up on our website, a place where you can help purchase those sheds or fencing. If you want to buy the whole shed, you can name it! We will put your name or the name of your pet on the shed. Please visit our website to see the many ways you can participate. Every contribution helps!
I have been so honored to have had the opportunity to partner with all of you, our supporters, for the love of our rescued friends. I hope that you will join me in celebrating and supporting this giant move that will secure the longevity of SAS. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me directly.

Here’s what will be better…
- We will go from 4 stalls to 14 plus stalls giving our rescues more dry indoor space.
- We will have a half-covered arena and more covered spaces that will allow us to protect our visitors from the elements and will enhance our kids camps and their activities!
- We hope to build a Bunny Barn that will better protect our critters from the cold and rain as well as the summer sun.
- We will have more parking and more spaces so more people can visit, and we will host more exciting events to help support our rescues.
- We will not be adding any new employees. Our program has always primarily been run by volunteers. Last year, we added a second employee to help us make this transition and cover for the barn manager on her days off. As always, I never have, and never will take any type of salary or funds. I, too, am a volunteer!
- We will not be “bigger”. I believe the boutique size of sanctuary that SAS is, is the most economical and beneficial to our rescues.
- We won’t be far from Sammamish! We are moving to east Renton and in the Issaquah School District.
- We still need and appreciate our volunteers!
- We will bring all our current rescued friends so you can still get up close and snuggle!
- Our name will stay the same!
